Dupont Classique dyes can be used on animal-based fibers such as silk and wool. This means they are not applicable to vegetable fibers such as cotton. To dye something, you add 1-5% of vinegar to water in such quantities that you can submerge the entire project. You then let the wool be in the warm water for a while and then add 0.5 – 15% of the weight of the product of Dupont Classique dye. E.G. for 100 gram of fiber you add 15 ml of dye. Slowly and carefully stir the mixture for a nicely equal coloring. To fixate you can either let the project simmer (but not boil) for 20 minutes or you can take the project out and put it for 4 minutes in the microwave at 600 watts. Afterwards let your project cool down gradually. As always, these instructions are indicative, and it is always advisable to do a test before dyeing bigger quantities.
