Calcium hydroxide (E526), also known as slaked lime can be used to influence acidity. It is a base that neutralizes acid. Created by heating lime (calcium carbonate) above 800 degrees and then quenching with water. Dissolves moderately in water. Packed securely in plastic jars with screw lid.Danger: causes serious eye damage. Available in 100, 500 and 1000 grams.

This product comes in compostable packaging and the packaging is made in the Netherlands. The 1000 grams packaging is still in plastic due to the heavy weight.
