Carded fleece is a fluffy blanket of wool, straight from the carder. It is useful for spinning, needlefelting or wetfelting. A cardfleeces differs from wool roving in that its fibers are not combed into a straight roving yet.
Carded fleece can be pulled appart to create nice tufts of wool for spinning or felting. It is also usable as a base layer for felting wool pelts. The fleece is then felted onto the pelt creating a new “skin” for the pelt. 1 kilogram of fleece is around 2×2 meter. Due to the fluffyness the thickness varies. If you push it inwards it becomes a layer of about 2 to 3 cm thick.
